Site Chosen For Dog Park in Bangor

Catherine Pegram

A vacant plot of land along the Penobscot River in Bangor could soon be home to a dog park. The group Bangor Area Regional K-9s, or BARK, has been working with the parks department to find a spot for pets to play. They’ve narrowed it down to a flat plot of land behind Geaghan’s Restaurant and Fireside Inn off Main Street.Parks and Recreation Director Tracy Willette says now it’s up to the city council to give the okay to use that property. He says that’s expected to happen at the next meeting, August 9th. Then BARK volunteers will start a fundraising campaign to help pay for equipment. Willette says the park may be able to open by next spring.
