Volunteers Painting Fields Pond Audubon Center

The Fields Pond Audubon Center in Holden is getting a makeover, thanks to some folks from a local hardware store and the community.Volunteers from Home Depot as well as the community, are putting a fresh coat of paint on the building. It’s all part of the Home Depot Gives Back Program. The program is a way for Home Depot to say thank you to the community. The painting started Saturday, and volunteers say it’s something the definitely needed to be done. “Some of the areas on the peaks, two sides, the cedar was really dry and deteriorating. So it took a lot of paint and a lot of time versus these sides on the non-weather side. They’re not taking as much paint and they’re going a lot quicker,” said Paul Corcoran, Assistant Store Manager of Home Depot. The painting won’t be finished this weekend, but the crew will be setting a date to come back sometime in August to get the entire job done.
