New Law Restricting Access of Vital Records 

Starting today it’s going to be harder for folks to get copies of vital records. It’s part of a new Maine law aimed at preventing fraudulent use of those records.Under the new law anyone requesting records that are less than 100 years old will have to provide documentation proving they have a legitimate reason for wanting them. Vital records include birth certificates, death certificates, marriage certificates, and domestic partner registrations.For more information on the new law go to
