Health official have picked three companies to open up the first medical marijuana dispensaries in the state.And the selection process isn’t over. Northeast Patients Group of Portland, Remedy Compassion Center of East Wilton and Safe Alternatives of Fort Kent have been given the okay to operate six of the eight facilities allowed in Maine.The Department of Health and Human Service is still accepting applications from companies to run two more dispensaries. The deadline for those applications is August 20th. Voters approved the use of medical marijuana dispensaries last fall. We’re told the new facilities could take two to four months to open.
