Medical Marijuana Distributers Chosen 

Three non-profit groups have been chosen to distribute medical marijuana in Maine, but the selection process isn’t over yet.Today, state health officials announced that safe alternatives of Fort Kent, Remedy Compassion Center and Northeast Patients Group have been selected to dispense marijuana under a new law approved by Mainers.Northeast Patients Group is expected to open four dispensaries.Locations have been proposed in Bangor or Hermon, Augusta or Waterville.The group will also have sites in Thomaston and Portland.The selection process is being re-opened in York, Washington and Hancock counties because of the lack of qualified applicants.Each non-profit that applies to run a dispensary must meet certain security and accessibility standards.In addition, applicants must submit $15,000.Applications for those other two districts will be accepted through August 20th.
