The Harbor House in Southwest Harbor is going pink as they prepare for their twelfth annual Flamingo Festival.Organizers say the festival is all about community spirit and is a way to help raise money for the harbor house.Folks can purchase a flamingo to decorate their lawn.Don Featherstone and his wife are the guests of honor.Featherstone is the creator of the pink flamingo lawn ornament. There are a few additions to the festival this year, with a farmer’s market and a flamingo 4-miler race.” It’s just a fun, quirky, very different festival. This whole town turns pink on Saturday morning. It’s amazing and when you look at pictures of the parade and how much pink there is in the parade. So it’s really different. It’s kind of anything goes.”The festival kicked off Friday evening. For a schedule of the events go to www.harborhousemdi.org.
