Folks from around the area got the chance to tour the Penobscot Job Corps and learn more about the programs there. It was recruitment day at the corps.Prospective students toured the place and could apply for admission in the programs of their choice. There are 7 programs of study ranging from welding and construction to culinary arts and an assistant nursing program.Victoria Coffey is the Business and Community Liason at the job corps. She says they operate year round and is continually accepting new applications. “We have 304 beds so our residential group of students will max out at 304 but we’re inviting commuters,” she says. “Anyone who lives in any of the towns surrounding Bangor we’d love to have you come and be a student here.”Job corps officials say they’re pleased with today’s turnout.
