Police Officer Injured during Chase in Old Town 

A man from Old Town is facing a number of charges, after police say he purposely rammed his car into a police cruiser.It happened Saturday night around 10:45 p.m. Old Town police say 31-year old Erick Gilman was clocked speeding on Gilman Falls Avenue.When officers attempted to pull him over, Gilman allegedly took off.At the intersection of Stillwater and Brunswick, police say Gilman purposely crossed into the oncoming lane, ramming a patrol car driven by Officer Jaime Slauenwhite {SLAW-en-WHITE}.Both Gilman and Slauenwhite were taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center where they were treated and released for minor injuries.Gilman is now behind bars at Penobscot County jail facing felony charges of aggravated assault and aggravated criminal mischief, as well as three misdemeanor charges of reckless conduct, driving to endanger, and failure to stop.Old Town police say the investigation is still ongoing, and additional charges could follow.
