Local Broadcasters Start Preparing For School Early

It might sound early, but some local radio personalities are already stocking up on school supplies.For the next five weeks, the folks at Blueberry Broadcasting will be broadcasting live from different Dunkin Donuts locations collecting school supplies for kids.Their “Tools for School” program last year helped more than 500 kids. They’re starting the program earlier than usual this summer because the need is so great.Joining the effort this year will be Paul and Kat from 104.7 The Bear. They’re hoping to help round up more supplies than ever before.The first tools for school live broadcast will be with Paul and Kat on Tuesday at the Dunkin Donuts on State St. in Brewer, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.On Wednesday morning, Mike and Mike from KISS 94.5 will be live at the Hogan Rd. Dunkin Donuts in Bangor from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.The school supplies will be distributed through Penquis. Families can apply for the program on the website, www.penquis.org.
