State Police to Increase Patrols for Holiday 

State Police plan to step up their patrols for the holiday week-end, and through next week.Colonel Patrick Fleming says this is one of the busiest weeks on Maine roads partly because of tourists in the state.State police plan to use aircraft and additional troopers to patrol the roadways.Last year, there were four highway deaths during the three day holiday week-end.This year, they have a goal of reducing crashes and targeting aggressive drivers. Lieutenant Thomas Kelly says, “We’re looking to make sure that this is a safe weekend by putting extra patrols out there and also sending a message to buckle up, drive safely, be cognizant of people around you, and don’t drink and drive.”They also advise you to make sure you’re well rested before hitting the road.
