Fire In Plymouth

Fire ripped through a workshop in plymouth this evening. Crews from surrounding areas responded to Ward Hill Road in Plymouth shortly after 5:00PM.Officials say when they arrived the three story structure was already fully involved.Just after they got to the scene, officials say they heard explosions inside the building. They say air compressors and drums of waste oil were to blame for those blasts.Officials say the building was home to a business that carves slate and makes statues, as well as a blacksmith shop. They say fire destroyed most of what was inside the structure.Don Chute, Chief of the Detroit Fire Department, says “Basically at this time it’s going to be a total loss. We have probably an excess of $100,000 worth of antiques that were stored in the building so it’s going to be a substantial loss.”Chute went on to say, there were people working in the downstairs workshop. They left, and then came back to find the building up in flames. At this time there is no known cause. The fire marshal has been called in to investigate.
