Bangor City Councilor Urges Reconsideration of City Budget

A Bangor City Councilor is asking his colleagues to reconsider their vote on the city’s budget.Monday night, councilors approved a 45-point-5 million dollar spending plan, which kicks into effect Thursday.Property taxes are going up 15 cents per 1-thousand dollars of valuation.Councilor David Nealley says he thinks it might be better to take funds from a city reserve account.He also says they might want to consider some cuts that were initially proposed.Nealley takes issue with money the city pays out in overtime for public safety.He says he hopes the citizens take the next step.”After hearing this maybe they will contact their councilor and ask them to reconsider the budget.”The motion would have to be made within 5 days of Monday’s vote.
