Another Possible Class for High School Football

There may be four classes of high school football as soon as the fall of 2011. Adding a class ‘D’ is in the works partly because of more schools with teams. There are now 78 varsity programs, That’s up nine from four years ago.A Maine Principals Association subcommittee is suggesting that the enrollment cutoffs would be 900 plus for class ‘A’,600 to 900 for class ‘B’. 426 to 600 for ‘C’ and 425 and under for the new class ‘D’.More discussion is coming before a vote on the change. There will still be the three classes for high school this fall.
