A local assisted living community has a brand new name.Acadia Assisted Living on Ohio Street in Bangor is now Winterberry Heights Assisted Living and Memory Care Community.Staff members say the new name will held the complex distinguish itsself and will hopefully bring more people to the facility.Administrator, Kris Long, says while it is a big, friendly community, residents also have lots of privacy.”We have apartments that are self contained with a kitchenette, full size refrigerator, and they’re very private. People have their own air conditioning and heat. So it’s their own little living sector,” said Kris Long. The motto of the community is seniors together, serving others. In honor of this, Winterberry Heights will be holding monthly activities benefitting different organizations. On Tuesday, first lady of Maine Karen Baldacci will be on hand to talk about nutrition and Maine foods. The talk will benefit Meals on Wheels.
