Wardens, Marine Patrol Step Up Efforts Against Drunk Boaters

The Maine Warden Service and Marine Patrol are making an extra effort this weekend to keep boaters safe. They’ll be working the waters to catch boaters who drink or use drugs, then drive. It’s part of a national campaign called Operation Dry Water. Officials say boat operators who are stopped are subject to sobriety tests, just as if they’d been pulled over behind the wheel of a car. During the same effort last year, five people were cited for operating under the influence while boating.
