Stockton Springs Signs Off on Wind Ordinance

Folks in Stockton Springs have signed off on an ordinance that would lay out restrictions for wind farms in town. Voters approved the ordinance June 8th, but made it official at the town meeting over the weekend. Town manager Joe Hayes says the ordinance was based on the state’s model and large-scale projects would be required to be set back one-mile from any buildings. The noise level would also be restricted to 50 decibels.Hayes says one land owner has expressed interest in putting up wind turbines on Fletcher’s Hill but has not turned in a formal proposal.
