A happy homecoming Monday for some Army Reserve Soldiers who spent the past year in Iraq.Members of the 619th Transportation company were greeted by friends and family in Lewiston.The 170 soldiers were based in Talil during their year long deployment. They drove a total of 600,000 miles, hauling 30,000 tons of equipment and supplies throughout southern Iraq.Now they’re back home in Maine. Soldiers like Mike Waite say it’s great to finally be with loved ones. “It melts my heart. It’s hard with two kids. First deployment, I didn’t have any kids and this time it was really hard.”The 619th Transportation Company is based in Dexter and Auburn. This was the second deployment to Iraq for the unit.
