Fort Knox to Fire up the Kiln Sunday 

A brick kiln at Fort Knox in Prospect that hasn’t been fired up since the late 1800’s will roar back to life Sunday.The giant oven is 150 years old, and was used to cook meals for soldiers at the fort. That came to an end 112 years ago.The kiln will be lit Father’s Day and Fort Knox volunteers will bake goods for visitors.This event is part of the State Parks Department’s Maine Day, and that means admission is free. The fun begins at 9 Sunday morning. You have until 6 Sunday night to check out this interesting bit of history.
