Head of Falls Rejuvenation Project

One of Waterville’s most historic sites is getting a face lift.Head of Falls will undergo construction to improve access to the area. The $360,000 project will include improvements to the Two Cent Bridge, making it wheelchair accessible. The bridge is the last toll foot bridge in the U.S.Trails will also be added to connect to other trails in the community.Waterville’s City Manager says this is an area along the Kennebec that’s been underutilized for too long. “I think the river itself represents one of Waterville’s greatest assets and it’s really been an underutilized asset.” said City Manager Mike Roy. “So I think what’s happening at Hathaway of course a building right along the river and what’s going to happen here along the river is really going to help to bring Waterville’s image back.”The project is expected to be completed by the end of summer.
