Fatal Fire in Stonington 

Fire Marshals will probably never know what caused a fire that killed a man in Stonington Sunday afternoon. The damage to the building is too extensive.It was reported around 4:30 PM off Child’s Street.Investigators believe the victim is 44 year old Scott Bartlett. Testing will be needed to confirm his identification.The medical examiner says he died of smoke inhalation, and the fire is being called an accident.We’re told Barlett had been separated from his wife for two years and was living in a garage near his former home. Two of Bartlett’s sons had visited him earlier Sunday afternoon and put out a small fire on a mattress.About an hour later, family members told police they looked out to find the garage engulfed in flames.Bartlett’s body was discovered around 7:30 Sunday night.
