The high school baseball and softball playoffs take high school athletes into their summer vacation. For the seniors on the teams, some of the games happen after graduation. At this point in the season, the seniors are also facing playing in their last game every time they take the field.I traveled to Howland this afternoon to get some highlights of the Penobscot Valley High School game against Washington Academy. There are a number of seniors on each team as well as a loyal group of parents rooting on their kids. It’s also nearing the end of the line for spectating for the parents.I spoke with a couple of them before the game.*Nancy Sprague – Mother of Ryan Sprague*It’s kind of bittersweet. It’s good that he’s going to be going on but it’s sad to see him play his last game. Hopefully it’s not his last game, we’re going to win.*Wendy Worster – Mother of Dylan Worster*It’s sad, it’s bittersweet. He is going to college ball.*Joshua Lyons – Father of Brett Lyons*Sports are very good for all the kids here. A very good group of kids. They’re all very well matured, good in sports, good in academics, a very good school.
