Six Bangor Area Non-Profits Receive Rotary Grants 

The Rotary Club of Bangor awarded 18-thousand dollars in grants Tuesday.More than 30 groups applied for the money, this year geared toward elderly care and youth services projects.The Eastern Area Agency on Aging and Phillips-Strickland House won grants for senior housing improvements.Literacy Volunteers of Bangor and UMaine’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program took home money for reading programs.And, the Penobscot Theatre Company and Troop 10 of the Boy Scouts of America received grants for work with children.”It allows us to really support many agencies in this area, that sometimes are really in need of funding for some special programs,” says Scott Boucher, chair of the Bangor Rotary’s charitable giving committee.Money for the Rotary grants comes from the annual “Music Off Broadway” show held in March.
