Gold’s Gym Spin-a-Thon

Folks broke a sweat at Gold’s Gym in Bangor Saturday, for a good cause. The gym hosted a three hour spin-a-thon to benefit the American Diabetes Association. Each participant was required to raise money. They’re hoping to reach 6-thousand dollars. Some of the money raised will also go toward the Guido family of Old Town.Their 4-year-old daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and just had to have her leg amputated. Saturday, participants got to spin to the beat of the band Overdrive, who played throughout the spin-a-thon.Event Coordinator Melissa Towle says it’s a fun way to raise money and awareness for the American Diabetes Association.” Diabetes is becoming so prevalent in society today. One in three children born after 2000 will develop it throughout their lifetime if we continue on the path we’re on as far as not exercising and eating poorly.”If you missed the spin-a-thon, but would still like to help the gym raise money you can call them at 947-0763.
