Memorial Day in Etna

The people of Etna and Carmel got into the spirit of Memorial Day on Monday. That’s nothing new: They’ve held a Memorial Say parade every year since 1946.Veterans from both towns marched through Etna at around 10 o’clock Monday morning. After a short service at the Etna Cemetary the group headed off to Carmel to finish up the festivities. Those involved say it’s important pass down the tradition to the younger generation. “I belong to the the Legion since 1973 and I haven’t missed a parade yet,” Said USMC veteran Russell Treadwell. “It’s just one of those things that we are honored to get out to get out and remember our comrades and just give them the credit that they deserve.”The parade ended in Carmel with a ceremony at the veterans memorial.
