Maine Prosthetics Aid Haiti 

Many Mainers rushed to Haiti’s aid after a massive earthquake crippled and killed thousands of people.More than four months later, some are still responding to the need for help.Mark Picurro is one of them. Picurro is a prosthetics practitioner from Hanger Prosthetics and Orthotics in Waterville.Recently he’s returned from a 2-week trip to Haiti where he provided care for Haitian amputees injured in the January 12th earthquake.Picurro estimates there are between three and 6-thousand people who have lost limbs due to the earthquake.Picurro and three other clinicians from Hanger have provided their services for free.
