State Police Stepping Up Patrols

State police will be stepping up patrols over the holiday weekend. They say Memorial Day is the unofficial start of the summer driving season. Beginning today additional troopers will be patrolling Maine’s highways — and they’ll be helped by a state police plane. They’re looking for aggressive drivers, speeders, and traffic tie-ups, as well as enforcing seat belt laws as part of the “click it or ticket” campaign.Extra money has been given to 78 Maine police departments – including state police – by the Bureau of Highway Safety to help pay for the added patrols.
