Search for New Bangor City Manager

The city of Bangor is one step closer to finding a new city manager.A Recruitment firm hired by the city has narrowed the list of candidates down to eight.City Council Chair Richard Stone says they are not releasing the names of the candidates. He says the list will be cut down to about five and then they will start the interview process.Stone says there are several qualities they are looking for in the new manager.” It’s obviously somebody that has demonstrated their ability to be fiscally conservative. Somebody who’s been able to be involved in economic development. Somebody who isn’t just viewing it as a jumping off place for a year then want to leave because it takes a couple of years to get your sea legs under you and they have to be a people’s person.”Bangor has been without a city manager since last December, when longtime manager Ed Barrett announced his retirement.Stone says they hope to have a new city manager by August.
