SAD 37 Budget Up for Vote Tonight

Folks in SAD 37 will have a chance to vote tonight on a new school budget that will cut 8 jobs and more than half-a-million dollars. The board of directors has already approved the $7.8 million budget for next school year.Superintendent David Beal says it’s nearly $585,000 less than the current one because of a drop in state funding. He says the plan cuts five teaching jobs and one ed tech job.Two other teaching positions would be eliminated through retirement. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Narraguagus High School gym in Harrington. If folks at the meeting approve the budget, it will go to a district-wide vote, June 8th.
