Bangor Officials Unveil Plan to Improve Birch Stream 

In 2003, de-icing chemicals used on planes at Bangor International Airport were found in Bangor’s Birch Stream. An on-going clean up effort has been underway since then.Today, Bangor city officials unveiled a plan to further improve the quality of that water.The proposal includes a list of new policies and procedures for landowners.Some property owners in the area will be asked to install or repair existing drainage systems.Some of the property owners at today’s meeting expressed concerns about possible costs.City officials say they’re working on ways to help the property owners with the expense. They’re also urging the public to do their part.
