Some folks in Old Town will be pulling an all-nigher! They’re participating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. The event raises money for cancer research. It’s also a time to honor and remember those who’ve battled cancer.Close to 1000 people are joining in on this year’s event, making up more than 80 teams. The teams spent today setting up camp. Each team has a name, and many have themes. Angel Matson of Team Twitter says this is a great opportunity to help out a very worthy cause. “Really it’s just giving back to the community and knowing that cancer touches all of us in some way, whether it’s a family member or a friend. Just that those people have been impacted by some tragic situation, so just knowing that the little bit that we can do with fundraising is making a huge difference.”The folks at the Relay for Life are all about having fun! There’s entertainment, including bands and karaoke. The relay started at 6 this evening and goes until noon tomorrow.
