Arrests Made After High-Speed Chase in Rockland

Two people were arrested this morning after a high-speed chase with Rockland police.18-year-old Gabriel Grover of Rockland is charged with eluding an officer, operating under the influence of drugs, driving to endanger, criminal speeding and unauthorized use of a vehicle.Police say they tried to pull Grover over in Rockland around six this morning but he took off. Officers stopped their pursuit when it reached 100-miles an hour, but were able to stop the car on Route 17 at Lake Avenue, using spike mats.”All things considered, and considering the danger that the motorist put other people in, this is a great outcome. No one was seriously injured, there wasn’t an excessive amount of damage, it’s the best outcome we could have hoped for,” says Rockland Police Sgt. Don Finnegan.Police say a 16-year-old girl was also in the car. She’s accused of kicking a police officer during the arrest.Police say the pair took the keys from the vehicle’s owner when the owner was sleeping.
