“Let the competition begin” is the rallying cry of the United Way of Eastern Maine and the folks planning the KahBang! Festival in Bangor.They’re encouraging musical acts to take part in a KahBattle.It’s a battle of the bands. Groups or individuals are being asked to submit up to four songs, two should be originals.Entry deadline is Friday, June 11th.The winners land a spot opening day of the 2010 KahBang! music and art festival, and also win a professional recording session with Maine Street Music.Proceeds benefit the United Way as well as music lovers. “All of us that started KaBang wanted a large national festival to be held in Bangor, Maine with all the bells and whistles, stages and things you might see in larger areas, larger venues against the backdrop of down home Maine Bangor,” Said KahBang organizer Chris Michaud.KahBattling bands hit the stage of Peakes Auditorium on the Bangor High campus on July 16th.Admission is five dollars.
