FBI Says Arrest Related to Times Square

A top Massachusetts law enforcement official says two men arrested in the investigation into the failed Times Square car bomb are considered to have had a “direct connection” to the suspect, Faisal Shahzad. A spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says a third person was arrested in Maine. An FBI spokeswoman says a third arrest in Maine was related, butsaid she had no additional details about it.The Massachusetts official says the men are believed to have provided money to Shahzad, but investigators are not sure whether they were wittingaccomplices or simply moving funds as is common between MiddleEastern and Central Asian nationals who live in the U.S. The official says “these people might be completely innocentand not know what they were providing money for, but it’s clearthere’s a connection.”
