If you’ve been to downtown Bangor lately, you may have noticed some new shops on Main Street.At least four new businesses have opened since December.As Joy Hollowell tells us, it’s all about location.==========(Russ Gillen, Owner, Computer Solutions)”We’d been driving through town and looking for a location that was visible, saw this spot and decided to give it a try.”In December, Russ Gillen opened Computer Solutions in the former G.M. Pollack shop. The business specializes in repairing computer and selling used ones. Gillen says being on Main Street has really helped draw customers to his shop.(Robin Rosenberg, Owner, Yankee General Store)”Love it down here, it’s really a strong community, people are more excited than I am.”It was only last month that Yankee General Store opened its doors. But since then, owner Robin Rosenberg says she’s seen a steady increase in customers.”it’s actually turning into more of a convenience store. A lot of people live downtown that haven’t before.” Just a couple of doors down, a new clothing store is getting ready to join the gang. Main Street Alternative offers new, recycled and vintage clothing items as well as home décor. It plans to open this Friday.”It’s nice to be downtown. We didn’t realize it was kind of a new, happening place so it’s been really fun.”Kim Smith is the owner of The UnBridled Bistro, which opened on New Year’s Eve. The restaurant offers four course meals at a fixed price of $35 dollars. Smith’s daughter, Miranda is the pastry chef. Just next door, is Bennett’s market. It’s run by Smith’s youngest daughter, Colby. She offers gourmet breakfast and lunch items. “It is a good thing, you can’t fire anyone cause we’re all related,” says Smith.====Computer Solutions is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. To 5 p.m.Yankee General Store is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Robin Rosenberg says she plans to offer Gifford’s ice cream this summer.Bennett’s Market is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.The UnBridled Bistro has limited seating, so it’s advised you call ahead.
