Maine Vessel To Help Efforts In Gulf of Mexico 

In order to help the efforts in the Gulf of Mexico, a Maine-based oil spill recovery vessel will report to the Gulf today.According to U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree of Maine, the 208-foot Maine Responder will join nine other vessels from the East Coast, to aid efforts to contain oil leaks in the Gulf of Mexico.Pingree said a dozen oil skimming units remain in Portland Harbor, capable of capturing up to 31,000 barrels of oil a day in case of an accident.
