Letter carriers throughout the nation are helping to Stamp Out Hunger across America this weekend. Participants leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods next to their mailbox to donate. Each year local letter carriers collect the donations from homes across the city and deliver them to hunger relief organizations in the community. Last year a record-setting total of 73.4 million pounds of donated food was collected. Organizers say this year’s drive is more important than ever. They say help is needed now more than ever before.
