More than a dozen varieties of tulips, in just about every shade of the rainbow, are hitting full bloom at the Stewart Estate on Mount Desert Island right now.And if you take a stroll through that garden on Saturday, you could also be helping a local non-profit group send kids to camp this summer.Every year the Stewart Estate opens its gardens to the public for a spring bulb walk to raise money for local non-profits. Proceeds this year go to support scholarships to Camp Beech Cliff. Heidi Welch with Camp Beech Cliff says the donations help children get an enriching camp experience.”We try to make it so all local kids can come, and that’s where the camperships come in, the scholarships. We raise money every year so all kids, no matter their family’s financial status, can come to camp,” Welch says. The bulb tour is located in Northeast Harbor at 32 Sargent Drive, across from the golf course. You’ll see pink signs leading you in. It’s 15 dollars and they say, don’t forget your camera. Organizers tell us if it rains heavily tomorrow, they’ll open the walk on Sunday as well.
