The folks at Eastern Maine Community College honored a former librarian who was called a visionary in her field.Karen Reilly worked at the school for 21 years and was at the helm during the expansion of the library several years ago. She retired in 2008.Friday, the school named a part of that building after her. It’s called the Karen Reilly Maine Reading Room.It contains a collection of books from our state and by Maine authors. Plus, it’s a quiet place to enjoy some literature.Reilly thinks it’s a great honor. “It’s quite astounding. All those years, I felt like I was doing my job. Just serving students and faculty was reward enough really. So, this is sort of the icing on the care I guess you would say.”E.M.C.C. President Joyce Hedlund says Reilly has been a strong advocate for not only this library but also libraries across the state. Many former employees attended Friday’s celebration.
