Driver Collides with Moose, Strikes Pole 

A driver in Johnson Mountain Township had to be pulled from his vehicle after hitting a moose, then a telephone pole.The Somerset County Sheriff’s Department says 47-year-old Gregg Alexis, of Waterford, was driving North on Route 201 when his vehicle struck the animal in the roadway.The cow moose flipped on top of the car upon impact.Police say the vehicle then struck a telephone pole, which snapped it in half. The broken pole then landed on top of the moose, which was still on top of Alexis’ car.Alexis was then transported to Jackman Area Health Center with head injuries.
