Second Rockland Sinkhole

Road crews in Rockland have finished repairing another sinkhole, one not nearly as large as the giant one that developed in February. That one was fifty feet deep, and was dubbed the state’s biggest pothole. It happened on a road that was built over a tunnel linking limestone quarries. The more recent pothole was just three feet across by three feet deep. We’re told it was caused by crews that tore up part of Tillson Avenue to work on drainage pipes. The road was reopened Wednesday afternoon.
