One person was sent to the hospital after a car crashed into a tree in Old Town. Police say the driver was coming around a corner on Kirkland Road around 1:30 p.m. The car lost control, went off the road and hit a tree. Then it bounced back onto the road. Police say a passenger in the front seat was taken to the hospital for a possible broken arm. The driver and another passenger were not hurt. Sargeant Michael Hashey says speed may have played a part in the wreck. “It is loose gravel in some parts so if you’re traveling too fast for the conditions, it’s very easy to lose control. I’m not saying that was the only factor in this accident but it probably was part of the factor.”Police are trying to determine if a mechanical problem contributed to the crash. The driver told them the car had recently been having brake trouble.
