Anything that can fit in a trash can or bag, and is not hazardous, can be placed curbside and will be picked up by Public Works crews.Anything else that you’d like to throw away needs to be taken to the Public Works lot at 530 Maine Avenue. You can drop off anything from televisions to tubs, on week-ends this month. And for the first time this year, they will be charging fees. “We no longer provide a general curbside spring clean up. The cost just became astronomical,” Explained Bangor Public Works Director Dana Wardwell. “We have in the past offered residents the opportunity to bring it to Public Works here free of charge. Budget problems have made it necessary to start charging what we feel are minimal fees.”Costs range from 2 dollars to 20 dollars.Bangor residents can drop the items off over the next three week-ends, proof of residence will be asked for. Their hours are seven in the morning until four in the afternoon. For questions, contact Bangor Public Works at 992-4500.
