Voters Decide to Close Burnham Village School 

Burnham, Detroit, and Pittsfield residents voted on the issue Thursday. In burnham there were 19 “yes” votes to close the school, 48 voted to keep it open. In Detroit it was 42 “yes” votes to 8 “no” votes. In Pittsfield there were 133 “yes” votes and 23 “no” votes.Shutting down the kindergarten school in Burnham will save the district close to $270,000, according to superintendent Michael Gallagher. About 65students currently attend Burnham Village, future kindergarteners would now go to the Manson Park school.
