Bangor Firefighters Get Hands-On Training

Some Bangor firefighters spent part of the day fighting fires that they set.Last month they were given a building on Broadway in Bangor to be used for training purposes. The plan was to burn down the structure Friday, but the high winds prevented that from happening. So, they spent their time practicing their skills with small fires inside the building.Assistant Fire Chief, Darrell Cyr says although they have a training facility, opportunities like this are crucial. “When we get a real building like this we can burn in, it’s real smoke, it’s real heat and I think it really helps the guys in real situations.”Firefighters say they might end up burning down the building Saturday, if the weather cooperates.
