Burglars have made off with thousands of dollars of equipment from a state-owned park. Lake George Regional Park director Jeff McCabe says an estimated five-thousand dollars worth of tools and equipment was stolen after a maintenance shed was broken into. The park is located on the Canaan Skowhegan town line. McCabe says two chainsaws and a number of power tools including circular saws and drills were taken. He says the burglar or burglars actually took the hinges off the doors to shed to get in the building. Gates into the park were locked according to McCabe who says, “it seems like somebody either walked in here, or came in here via boat. I would say they were in here for a length of time and then I would think that somebody must have seen something so I hope someone comes forward.” Lake George is a day-use park owned by the state of Maine and leased by the towns of Canaan and Skowhegan. The Skowhegan police department is asking that anyone with information about the missing items to call them at 474-6908.
