Pre-Trial Motions Continue in Accused Gunman’s Case 

The man accused of holding a Stockton Springs elementary school classroom hostage in 2008 made another appearance in a Waldo County courtroom Tuesday.It’s Randall Hofland’s tenth appearance since September, all related to a series of pre-trial motions. He says he wants all evidence supressed and all charges dropped.Hofland has chosen to represent himself and has called 18 witnesses so far related to the motions. District Attorney Geoffrey Rushlau says he’s never seen anything like it before.Hofland has pleaded not guilty to 41 felony charges related to the 2008 incident— including kidnapping, criminal restraint, threatening with a dangerous weapon and burglary.The earliest the case could go to trial is July.
