Music lovers turned out for The 14th annual Young Composers Festival. The event was held at the Bay School in Blue Hill. About thirty-five students from throughout the state of Maine preformed original compositions for judging by a jury of professional musicians. Officials say some of the best young musicians in Maine took the stage to play original 5 minute compositions. This year’s winner in Category I was Christopher Stakneys of Falmouth, Maine, who recently had his composition Congo performed by the Portland Symphony at the Merrill Auditorium. Christopher preformed his winning piece “Piano Quartet” with a string ensemble at the event.
