The Bangor Y was full of kids Saturday.And all those kids were having a fun time, while taking part in some healthy exercise.Meghan Hayward has the story.Kids could splish and splash, bounce around or make arts and crafts at the Bangor Y.Just as long as they were being active.” Today is Healthy Kid’s Day here at the Bangor Y. It’s a national Y event and all the Y’s across the nation do a Healthy Kids Day.”Organizers say it’s crucial to get kids active.” We’re trying to get families and kids really active. Summer is coming so we want the kids to have all those games fresh in their minds and get people moving and active. It’s been a long Winter.”Eleven-year-old Ryder Stubbs enjoyed his time at the Y.He says his favorite activity was tag.Even Dora the Explorer and Spongebob Square Pants made an appearance during the game.” Because we got to pull Dora’s flag out too and we got to chase other people with their flags and get active with.”And Ryder knows the importance of staying active.” Because you can burn off calories and become more active when you get older.”A lesson his mom, Angela Stubbs, has taught him.Angela says she tries to join the fun with her kids whenever she can.” I like to spend a lot of time with the kids and teaching them that I do this stuff helps them to learn that it’s okay for parents to be healthy and do this stuff with them.”
