Rockland Offers Medication Disposal Event 

The Rockland Police Department and Nursing Association helped make homes in Rockland a bit safer Friday.Residents turned in expired or unused medications for proper disposal.They say the event is meant to address the growing prevalence of unwanted and expired medications in the community, and their impact on public health, safety and the community.Authorities say collecting the pills help keep drugs out of the hands of thieves.” And a lot of people aren’t aware of how that’s impacting the environment around them. And impacting the young people and all the way up to seniors in our community.”But it’s an issue that all of us throughout the state are concerned with and we’re addressing on a daily basis.”Organizers say they hope to make the medication disposal a yearly event in Rockland.
