Some students at the University of Maine spent Tuesday evening spreading awareness about stopping the spread of H.I.V. and A.I.D.S.It was the annual ‘know your status’ dinner.The event is put on by the peer education program and the counciling center at U. Maine.Organizers say many people are still unaware of how wide spread H.I.V. and A.I.D.S. is among young people.They say that it’s a tough topic for some to talk about. “Sometimes this is not an issue that a lot of people like to talk about,” Said U Maine student and peer educator Megan Arsenault. “Whether they’re embarrassed or scared or just don’t know where the right resources are. Hopefully this dinner will direct them to the right places.”The dinner was free for undergraduate students.
